David Gold - RIP - 1936-2023
It is with deep sadness that West Ham United FC confirm that our beloved Joint-Chairman David Gold passed away on Wednesday morning following a short illness.

David Gold, 86, died peacefully with his devoted daughters, Jacqueline and Vanessa, and his fiancée Lesley, by his side.

A lifelong and ardent West Ham United fan, David Gold was born in Stepney in September 1936 and grew up at 442 Green Street, directly opposite the Boleyn Ground. As a promising young schoolboy player, he represented the Club’s boys’ team between the ages of 13 and 16 and later appeared in the youth team.

After forging a career as a hugely successful businessman, his life came full circle in January 2010 when he became Joint-Chairman of West Ham United following the successful takeover that helped to steady the ship and protect the Club’s future during a period of great financial uncertainty.

The thoughts and sincere condolences of everyone at West Ham United are with David Gold’s two daughters Jacqueline and Vanessa, his fiancée Lesley and all of his family and friends at this extremely sad time.

I doubt he's too fussed either way seeing as he's been making a killing over at Arsenal for the past few years since we left.

the one that was told "dont worry we will look after you" and then they proceeded to only look after the rib man so he can charge 25 quid (approx) for a pulled pork roll - is that who u mean?

I wonder what the bloke who had the sweet stall in Green Street that he spoke to through the window of his RR thinks of Mr G's demise.

Re: David Gold - RIP - 1936-2023
I had a barney with him on the radio about 11 years ago.
At the time Mrs Dale (WHTID website) had a show of his own on LBC and he had Goldo on for an hour or two.

I was living France at the time but they still put me through. I just wanted to tell him how wrong he was about the ground move. My main thrust was why did he think so many clubs around Europe had left, or were leaving athletics arenas in order to build brand new football stadiums, and why did he think WHU could buck the trend.

Well he was very polite but basically just kept repeating the party line about what great views everyone would get etc etc.and completely ignored my point of view.

Anyway I'd had a drink or two and probably got a bit agitated because Mrs Dale stepped in and I started having a pop at him, which didn't go down at all well. I must have been arguing the toss with Goldo for between 15 and 20 minutes, which I thought was a reasonable crack of the radio whip.

Like I say he was polite but at the end of the day him being on the radio was a pointless exercise because all he wanted to do was chat with those who came on to suck up to him - and there were plenty of those arselickers after they'd got me off air

'Very sad for his family, and of course I hope he rests in peace'

How else can someone rest when they're dead?

Re: David Gold - RIP - 1936-2023
Of course he never ever ever signed off million pound deals to get top rated players who then end up cant being arse to put a full shift in every other week for the shirt.
Also he never gave good contracts to players who have performed in the pass in hope they will keep doing so then to find out they don't give a fuck and take the piss playing up front while just trying to kick the ball and are happy being brought on as a sub every four games and take the money .

if the players had some of his old school working class value's towards the club we might not be watching shit each week and players who don't give a fuck about the club itself or its supporters.

A decent person who wanted the best for the club at all times .

You just said you liked him and he was decent.

If he didn’t want ppl to write bad things about him maybe he should have considered that before doing those things?

Re: David Gold - RIP - 1936-2023
Goose...I never liked/disliked him its just that some things are bigger than a football club.

Poor bloke died, maybe think about his family and how they would feel if they saw some of the vindictive and childish comments.

He was part of every decision made, and a proven liar.

He gets away with it because ppl are taken in by his “I’m a local load” rubbish.

Different cheek of the same arse as far as I'm concerned

But, not as offensive as Brady, sitting centre, blowing foul every time it opens it's shutter

I reckon a lot of people liked Gold because he was the least offensive in GSB...

Someone dies, and he gets cunted off.

Some of our supporters.........not even Millwall did that.

That adds some perspective, eh?
